A wall-to-glass shower hinge has one arm that fixes to the wall surface (typically via a wall plate or direct stud fixing) and a clamp jaw that grips the glass door panel. It is used where the shower door opens directly from a tiled wall without a fixed glass side panel. A glass-to-glass hinge has two clamp jaws — one gripping the fixed side panel and one gripping the door panel — and is used in enclosure configurations where the door is hung from a fixed glass panel rather than a wall. The choice depends entirely on your enclosure layout.
Our standard shower door hinges are available in jaw configurations compatible with 8mm, 10mm, and 12mm tempered safety glass. The most common specification for residential frameless shower doors is 10mm glass. For commercial and hotel applications where larger or heavier door panels are used, 12mm glass with our heavy-duty hinge range is recommended. Custom jaw dimensions for non-standard glass thicknesses are available through our OEM program.
SS304 stainless steel is the standard specification for residential shower hinges in normal bathroom environments. SS316 is recommended for coastal properties, saltwater pool surrounds, and commercial facilities where chloride-based cleaning agents are used regularly. SS316 contains molybdenum, which provides significantly enhanced resistance to pitting corrosion in chloride-rich environments. Yes. Our pivot hinge sets and selected wall-to-glass hinges are available with an integrated hydraulic damper that provides a controlled soft-close action in the final 15° of door travel. The closing speed and tension are adjustable via a screw mechanism on the hinge body.
