A friction stay is a hinged arm mechanism that controls the opening angle of a casement window while holding it securely in position. It consists of two or more arms connected by a friction-loaded pivot joint, which provides resistance to wind load and prevents the window from swinging open uncontrollably. Our friction stays are available in multiple arm lengths to suit different window sash sizes and are adjustable to set the desired holding tension.
